The park hosts regular Clubhouse events, such as cards during the day, community dinners where residents can socialize and have fun. Meet the Owners
Green Acres is a Senior Living Park that has been providing comfort, friendship, and community since its opening in 1968. It has a rich history that began in the early 40s when Elmer Nielsen fell in love with Vera, and they decided to start a family. Elmer purchased a 38-acre family farm that had chickens, cattle, and horses with the intention of building a home for his growing family.
As time passed, Elmer’s vision for the land evolved. In the 1960s, the World’s Fair was held nearby, and Elmer saw an opportunity to provide temporary housing for the fair attendees. He transformed the land into a thriving campground that offered a welcoming and comfortable place to stay for the fair visitors.
After the World’s Fair, Elmer saw a need in the community for senior living. He transformed the land into a Senior 55+ Community, which has been family-owned and operated since its 1968. The park has been providing a safe and friendly environment for seniors, where they can enjoy their golden years with their peers.
Green Acres has a strong sense of community, where residents can connect with each other through various activities, events, and amenities. The park offers beautifully landscaped grounds, walking trails, and a clubhouse that can be enjoyed by residents and their families. The park also has a variety of housing styles so there is always something to suit the needs and preferences of its residents.
Today, Green Acres is run by Elmer’s children and grandchildren, who continue to uphold his legacy of providing a warm and welcoming environment for its seniors. The park is a testament to Elmer’s love for his family, his community, and his vision for a better tomorrow.
